Reddit’s Best Subreddits for Freelance Jobs

Reddit's Best Subreddits for Freelance Jobs

If you’re looking to grow your side hustle, you’ll want to know about the best subreddits for freelance jobs. You may not think it, but Reddit is actually an amazing website to connect with clients and find high-paying freelance jobs.

(We’ve even spoken with freelancers who have landed full-time jobs off Reddit!)

Why Reddit is a Great Place to Find Freelance Clients

It’s not just because Reddit has 52 million daily active users. It’s the fact that job subreddits exist for every freelance job type or niche, and for every city, country, and state/province. You can get as specific or granular as you need to connect with the right clients.

Posts to most of these subreddits function a little differently than normal job boards for a few reasons:

  1. In most cases, users can post to either a) hire or b) get hired in the same place
  2. Often it’s more casual than regular job postings. You don’t need to fill out an application form or send a resume. In most cases, you just have to send a DM.
  3. Potential clients can see your entire post history when you DM them. This gives them a better insight into who you are.

Don’t Waste Time With Reddit Search

Wait! Don’t waste your time searching for jobs on Reddit’s awful native search, or wading through dead subreddits hoping someone will come along and revive them.

We also excluded subreddits where the posts aren’t coming from clients directly. Many subreddits are full of reposts from job boards. In this article, we only share subreddits where clients post directly, themselves, looking to hire.

There are so many dead, useless, or spammed job subreddits. Use this post to help you not waste your own time.

This is probably the most popular, most active job subreddit. You’ll find a very wide mix of clients looking to hire, and freelancers looking for work. That makes it one of the best subreddits for freelance jobs (which is why it’s at the top of our list).

Recent postings include clients hiring video editors, online guitar teachers, biochemistry tutors, and customer support agents.

No matter what your skillset or side hustle is, you’ll find somebody looking to hire you on r/forhire.

You can either apply for jobs that have been posted, or you can create your own post with the tag [FOR HIRE].

Because this subreddit has a “minimum wage” of $15/hour, you won’t have to worry about fighting for pennies, but be prepared: good jobs will attract a lot of candidates.

Because this subreddit is less moderated than r/forhire it has a lot more [Hire Me] posts than [Hiring] posts, but it’s still worth browsing.

#4: r/sysadminjobs

This subreddit is very specific and should only be used for System Administration jobs. If that’s your area of expertise, this is where to look.

#5: r/copywriting

This is a bit of a wild card addition to our list because it’s not strictly a Reddit “job board.” r/copywriting is a community to discuss all things copywriting, from work hours to rate suggestions and help with invoicing.

That being said, members of Hustle Rebel have hired a number of copywriters off r/copywriting, and have gotten jobs from this community as well.

#6: Your local r/forhire

The most popular and active version of r/forhire is the main one here. But there are local versions for most countries and regions. If you’re looking for work that can’t be done remotely, check out your local job board.

Many states have multiple r/forhire subreddits for the biggest cities. If you’re in San Diego, for example, then r/SanDiegoJobs may be of interest and posts about 2-3 jobs a day.

#7: r/SlaveLabour

Ok, be warned. r/SlaveLabour isn’t for everyone. If you’re looking for casual work and aren’t ready to charge premium prices (or are just desperate for cash) then r/SlaveLabour may be a good place to look. That being said, HustleRebel.com is all about helping you grow your income and enrich your life… so don’t stay on here for too long!

Jobs include clients looking for virtual assistants ($5/hour), help with graphic design, marketing, and writing.

The prices are low, so it isn’t one of the absolute best subreddits for freelance jobs. But it’s the most popular job board on our list. If you’re in a low-cost-of-living area, it might be the perfect place for you to find freelance work.
